Our client, a global leading precision machine manufacturing organisation, is looking for a Computer System Design Engineer to work on a long term contract basis within their engineering division. They are looking for a suitable candidate to join ASAP where the position will be based in the Netherlands.Job Responsibilities:
The Computer System Design Engineer defines, realises, manages and maintains various measurement electronics concepts and products (Computers, computer racks & cabinets, processor boards, storage solutions, thin clients, network switches and cabling, displays, keyboards, trackballs) for existing and new products.
• Act as the representative in a multidisciplinary design team, especially together with colleagues from software department.
• Define, document and maintain requirements of various computer systems electronics products.
• Participate in realisation of computer systems electronics products.
• Define, document, and execute tests to ensure that computer systems electronics products satisfy the requirements.
• Define Technical Product Documentation for a part used during ordering, manufacturing and testing.
• Perform trade-off studies to determine the preferred implementation scenario for new or changed functions.
• Contribute to Computer Systems roadmap and building-blocks (COTS solutions and using industry standards are highly preferred)
• Make work breakdown and planning for the various computer systems electronics products, agreed with other stakeholders.
• Manage outsourcing of computer systems electronics related modules.
• Transfer knowledge to production and service engineers.
• Solve problems during 1st product integration.
• Support production and service as an expert (4th line support).
• Analyse and solve reliability issues.
Skills Requirements:
• BSc or MSc Degree in Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4-6 years work experience as Designer, including experience with multidisciplinary system design
• Must have experience in Computer Hardware affinity. This means: being able to compile of computers and place them on a network, and therefore also being able to make such a network operational.
• Experience in definition and realisation of multi-processor computer systems and networks.
• Broad technical knowledge of: computer hardware (Sun, PowerPC, x86 PC), operating systems (Windows, Solaris, VxWorks, Linux, VMware), networks (ethernet, switched fabric), storage hardware (RAID, SSD), software development (scripting), real-time design.
