Looking for a new SQL DBA contract role? Want to work for an established Private Sector organisation, where you will both develop and maintain existing database applications? This role will give you the chance to work on both existing SQL databases, as well as to build new applications in SQL server. The data estate is very large, with huge amounts of transactional data being generated every day.Scope of Work
Due to organic company growth, and experienced SQL DBA is required for a 3 month engagement to work on a mix of BAU DBA tasks, and SQL Database Development projects.
You Will
- Develop and maintain SQL Databases
- Be an expert in SQL Triggers, Stored Procedures and database manipulation
- Have fantastic knowledge of replication, back-ups, disaster recovery and database design
- Be able to performance tune a database to the highest standard
- Have a knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack, and how this interacts with the back end database
The Company
They are a large commercial company, with a fantastic online and store lead sales based business. They have recently gone through a set of mergers and expansion, with a significant growth in IT as they look to move more of their business into the E-Commerce world.
Desired Skills
- A strong background in writing T-SQL queries, triggers and stored procedures
- Experience of SQL server 2008 R2/2012 in a SQL DBA role
- Solid knowledge of performance tuning on very large, high transactional databases
- A good knowledge of the BI stack - note you will not be developing with these tools, but understanding them will help you greatly in your role
