Description
Power Electronics Engineer, Analogue, Thermal, PCB, North East, £40ph+A contract Power Electronics Engineer is required for an initial six month contract based in the North East. Working on a project focused on grid balancing, you'll be heavily involved in additional power electronic design and development of converters aimed to help balance loads between sub stations within a smart grid infrastructure.
Any experience of working on converters designed for grid infrastructure is advantageous, but not essential, as someone with strong power electronics background operating at a range of powers, up to kW's. This is an immediate requirement with interviews due for this week. The successful candidate will have experience working with / knowledge of:
-Semiconductor device selection and control - i.e. IGBT, Mosfet, Thyristor, etc.
-Silicon Carbide technology would be a bonus
-Filter design, including magnetics selection
-System simulation skills, preferably in Matlab, Simulink, and / or Plecs
-Knowledge of PCB design
-Thermal management and packaging design
-Design for EMC
-Understanding of control systems and embedded systems design
-Knowledge of standard converter architectures, i.e. AC/DC, DC/DC, AC/AC, DC/AC, modern architectures a bonus, i.e. Matrix, Resonant and multi-level converters
This would be an initial six months worth of a work, but with a lot of project work currently there is a strong chance of extension in the New Year.
