Description

Remit IT Academy is one of only four training providers offering IT apprenticeships fully endorsed by Microsoft.
Completing an IT Apprenticeship will provide you with a trade for life which you can use throughout your career. This apprenticeship could lead onto working in many different industry sectors as well as providing you with industry skills, which may one day lead to you setting up your own business.

What is an IT technical sales apprenticeship?

As an IT technical sales apprentice you will be assisting in selling hardware and software products and services. This may be as part of a sales team or with your own case load of work. You will learn to become a technical expert in your field with the ability to offer advice on the most suitable products for each client. Your role will also incorporate a large sales element where you will be responsible for bringing in a certain level of sales to achieve a regular target.

What is the work like?

As with most sales roles, there may be some pressure involved in consistently achieving and surpassing your sales targets both individually and as a team. Customers will also be relying on your expert knowledge to answer their questions, resolve their problems and provide them with the right product. The level of customer service that you give to them will determine whether their experience is good or bad. The outcome of this service will have an effect on whether they return to the business or even how much they are willing to buy from you.

Duties will vary depending on the place of employment but will usually include:

• Attending sales meetings with clients
• Advise and guide on products and devices that could help the efficiency of the business and meet the business or clients' needs more directly
• Recommend adaptations to the software or hardware that might improve the suitability for the needs of the client
• Answering clients questions and resolving their problems
• Reporting your findings to your supervisors, technical teams and clients
• Providing a high level of customer service

How will I learn on an IT technical sales apprenticeship?

This course usually takes one year to gain an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3, this is equivalent to two A levels. To do this you will divide your time between your work and the IT Academy. The time at work will be where you get to learn practical skills from seeing the real working environment. You will shadow qualified members of staff so that you are able to learn first-hand how to go about the job. You will also get the opportunity to assist in the activities. Once you pass your assessments and progress through your course you will be able to start completing tasks on your own. To ensure you are competent in completing tasks on your own a Remit assessor will visit you periodically at your work place to complete assessment testing with you. As well as your Remit assessor you will also see a Remit tutor at the Remit IT Academy. Your tutor is the person responsible for teaching you the vital elements of the qualification that you can then take into your work placement and use in a practical way.

What skills are required for me to gain this apprenticeship?

As an IT technical sales apprentice you will need to demonstrate:
• Good IT skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• An understanding of customer service
• A good work ethic with a determination to succeed
• Ability to work within a team or covering your own caseload of work
• Determination to achieve and surpass targets.
