General Information
Define database design and infrastructure standards in conjunction with the Database Planning team, including supported new technologies features to assess database infrastructure, database design and configuration requirements and recommend solutions that conform to supported standards. A bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or related discipline followed by 10 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in IT related field. In the alternative, employer will accept a master's degree in computer science, IT or related discipline and 8 years of experience in IT related field.
Main Responsibilities
- Acquiring and maintaining knowledge regarding architecture of all the databases that serves the applications within the company (Prod, preprod, DR, Test..) Development of relevant standards, reports and documentation.
- Maintaining currency of IT Database systems against technological developments, in order to meet business requirements. Conducting relevant research and test activities for achieving this goal.
- Supporting projects in the company by conducting requirement analysis, request management, configuration management activities for designing database architecture for supporting the application architecture.
- Installation of databases required by the projects, providing support until the project is released into production environment including conducting backup/restore activities as needed.
- Review of the company database systems, and identification of improvement opportunities, Defining actions for improvement and managing these activities. Capacity management, and design and plan activities relevant to capacity management.
- Plan and undertake activities in order to take advantage of latest technological developments for projects and improvement activities. Following technological developments, maintaining relations with vendors. Conducting Proof of Concept Tests.
- Plan and undertake activities in order to reduce operational risks, provide uninterrupted and high performance services, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Serve as a team member in IT projects, provide support to the operation teams as needed.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: 8-10 years
Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Clustering, Disaster Recovery, Backup/Restore and similar concepts.
- Experience in Database Security/Audit, knowledge of relevant standards.
- Advanced knowledge on Oracle RAC, ASM, FRA (Flush Recovery), RMAN areas.
- Experience in storage and server technologies, operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows)
- Experience in Migration/Upgrade/Patch and database troubleshooting.
- Experience in Performance Tuning, database and systems performance monitoring and capacity planning, and other Oracle products (Grid Kontrol/Goldengate)
- Knowledge of ILM (subset/masking/archiving)
- Analysis of nev versions of Oracle/MS SQL Server products.
- Experience in development and documentation of standards regarding databases.
- Experience in development of policies, procedures, and standards.
