Key Accountabilities:

The candidate will be expected to lead the development and implementation of new risk management approaches in the OTC Clearing business and in the Prime Finance business. This includes defining, implementing and seeking approval for risk management frameworks for these products. The framework would incorporate margin methodology and policy, risk measurement, risk systems, limits and triggers, and procedures. The candidate will be expected to deliver such a framework within the timeframes of the contract.

Day-to-day responsibilities concern the risk management of client portfolios including portfolio analysis, proposal of margin levels for portfolios and new deals, proposing risk appetite levels (limits) to Credit, margin sufficiency analysis, measurement of exposure, and monitoring of a range of limits and triggers.
The role involves close interaction with product development teams within the business and with stakeholders in Market Risk and Credit Risk. On a day-to-day basis there is close interaction with sales and management with respect to new client opportunities and ensuring that the businesss risk profile remains consistent with appetite.

Relevant skills and Experience

The candidate will ideally have a Markets background and a detailed understanding of how to measure and manage the market risk of derivatives contracts, particularly in the Fixed Income (rates and credit) and exchange-traded derivatives area. Experience in clearing and/or prime brokerage would be helpful but not essential if the candidate understands well the concepts and business models.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate ability in both a change management (design and implementation) capacity and in a day-to-day risk management capacity. Experience with methodology development and a quantitative but pragmatic slant would be an advantage. Experience and skills with counterparty credit risk management, particularly in the FUNDS space would be an asset.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to manage relationships with stakeholders. Given the design focus of the role the candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to work and think in a flexible and open-minded way.

The role is in a Front Office environment and as such the candidate will be expected to work well and deliver under pressure and demonstrate strong decision-making skills. The candidate must be proactive in identifying issues, communicating them and finding solutions.
