Due to extra workload, we are recruiting for a Contract Manager to join our Reading Office here at Thames Water on an interim basis.

Our IT Commercial team requires support to manage procurement activities aligned to our 6+6 plans and to provide additional capacity to support the contract and supplier management functions. This will involve work with our project teams, liaising with our managed procurement service (MPS) and legal service for contract reviews, on behalf of IT, to drive activities leading to contract closure and identification of onwards contract management tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure new contracts are tendered with high-quality requirements, in line with leading practice.
  • Commercially-led contract renewals, tendering and re-negotiation activities, working with procurement.
  • Identify and implement cost-effective management, service and contractual improvements by working with the IS management and customer-facing teams.
  • Take primary responsibility for managing the supplier performance of the outsourced procurement and legal team's service into IS.
  • Work with procurement and project teams to monitor supplier commercial risks.

The role will also involve identification and facilitation of projects suitable for engagement with our wider development pool partners based on resource loading and who is best placed, with respect to capabilities, to deliver against our requirements.

The ideal candidate will have good relationship management skills and a detailed understanding of leading practices in IT applications management, procurement, infrastructure management, telecommunications, applications development/project delivery and/or service and asset management.
