Senior Production engineer/Senior manufacturing engineer required for a world leading Defence and Aerospace company based out of Antwerp in the Netherlands for a 6 month initial contract with the intention for a longer contract to be issued after this period. Successful candidates will be responsible for the overall delivery of the manufacturing, production and validation for the Flow Controller Unit of an ESA (European Space Agency) Satellite/Spacecraft the BepiColumbo, which is scheduled for a 2016 launch to Mercury.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Creating, documenting and maintaining a robust Manufacturing Procedures and Work Instructions that support each stage of the new process.

* Working closely with the Engineering Team and associated departments, candidates must possess excellent communication and co/ordination skills. Be able to plan manufacturing trials, jig, fixture and tooling design and modifications and improvements.

* Be fully conversant with state of the art manufacture and production techniques within a complex and challenging environment operating within very demanding time, quality and cost constraints.

* Demonstrating strong Leadership skills and accountability for the Engineering Team to deliver a "right first time" product against stringent requirements and specification.

* Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

* Providing manufacturing decision making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.

* Working with designers to concurrently engineer complex manufacturing processes and technology based on factors like production volume, work force skills, while preserving product design functionality.

* Directing on/going efforts to eliminate system inefficiencies and apply best practices by identifying potential improvement areas and developing associated solutions to continually improve overall production system performance.

Skills and competencies

* Experience within a Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics design environment working preferably to the ECSS (European Cooperation for Space Standardisation)/ECSS not required

* Substantial experience in leading and owning the creation, development and validation of highly complex assemblies and robustly documented processes

* High degree of experience within technical manufacturing and production engineering environment.

Desirable Skills and competencies

* Space system and component experience and knowledge eg Xenon controller unit or similar space standard equipment

* Experience with process and instrumentation control, pipe welding, value integration, EEE components (Electrical, electronic and electromechanical), testing and validation

* Experience with six sigma process

* 5/10 years of manufacturing and production experience working in either a Space, Aerospace Automotive or Medical environment

Due to the sensitive nature of the company and project all candidates must be willing to undergo a Security check prior to starting.
