PLC/SCADA Engineer (Beckhoff, Siemens S7) - Bristol

About the Role:

The PLC/SCADA Engineer (Beckhoff, Siemens S7) may be allocated to one or more large/medium sized projects, working in an integrated design team reporting to the Engineering Manager (people flow to work model). The PLC/SCADA Engineer (Beckhoff, Siemens S7) work will either be verified by a senior engineer of the same discipline within the same project if the project is large enough or outside of the project if small. Depending upon the size of project, work will both be directed and supervised by the Functional Lead and/or the Engineering Manager for the relevant task or project responsible for the supervision of designers in the production of drawings, documents and engineering models.

Skills Required:
  • Ensuring that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
  • Consider, act upon and record health, safety and environmental issues at all stages of the design process (bid and contract) in accordance with relevant procedures and policies.
  • Producing calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design base documentation and technical reports and supervising trainee staff in production of same.
  • Knowledge of power distribution circuits (415Vac 3ph), relay logic circuits, VSD circuits, PLC circuits, PLC software, EMC principles, Sensor types and applications, Human Factors principles for design, Conventional and Nuclear Safety Case principles.
  • Supervising designers in the production of drawings and engineering models.
  • Producing technical Scopes of Work.
  • Producing technical specifications, assessing tender returns and providing technical support to those packages throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning phases of the project to ensure that the Design Intent is maintained.
  • Carrying out design risk assessments.
  • Reviewing design changes.
  • Assessing concessions and technical queries.
  • Work within the task man-hour budget or advise the Technical Lead or Functional Lead why this cannot be achieved.
  • Report on a periodic basis specified by the Project Manager the estimate to complete of their assigned task.
  • Raising design quality plans for single discipline work packages.
  • Preparing designs for hazard identification and HAZOP studies.
  • Maintain effective communications with all other disciplines and functional groups (e.g. Mechanical, EC&I, Hazard Management etc) associated with the task or project, and when required, with the customer and their staff.

Paying up to £30,000 - £48,500 + Pension
