The role would suit a candidate who wants the challenge and interest of working with pcbs involving a variety of technologies. A commitment to producing 'right first time' quality products is also essential.

Work Profile

This post is likely to involve undertaking a wide variety of tasks producing pcb designs from production test rigs to high end pcbs using stacked microvias, flexible circuits and controlled impedance differential lines. The engineer would be responsible for keeping abreast of the latest pcb technology appropriate for the company's products and maintaining the library of components for schematic design and layout.

The pcb layout would be a joint responsibility between the design engineer who produced the schematic and the PCB Engineer who should contribute aspects to improve manufacturability, test and emc performance. The PCB Engineer would be expected to maintain good working relations with the pcb manufacturers and pcb populators.

The company is ISO 9001 approved so the PCB Engineer would be expected to ensure that all work would be produced to that standard.

The PCB Engineer would be expected to be the company reference point for all aspects of pcb design and manufacture.

Academic Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with 'A' level grades (A or B) plus a degree in Electronics or Physics (or the equivalent).

Experience Required

The candidate should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of Pads software and experience of working with complex boards. Other important qualities include good organisational skills and the ability to work with others. A good background understanding of electronics and mechanics as well as a demonstrable commitment to producing 'right first time' quality work are essential.
