Key duties and responsibilities:

*To take ownership of develop for new radio products (UHF and VHF transceivers) which meet specifications, are suitable for mass production and support them through the full product life cycle.

*Develop specifications, architectural designs and optimise performance of RF discrete circuitry in areas such as VCOs, synthesisers, filters, PAs, receivers.

*Generate project timescales, work plans and report to the technical manager.

*Lead RF design and development activities for permanent and contract staff.

*Integrate with other staff members on Baseband, DSP, ATE and Mechanical disciplines in design, troubleshooting and problem resolution activities.

Key requirements:

*Circa five years of experience in RF design at discrete component level.

*Demonstrable ability to construct prototype circuits, operate test equipment and support design up to and beyond mass production.

*Proven experience of working as part of a multi-disciplined team with other electronic engineers, software developers and mechanical engineers.

*Demonstrable experience of PCB layouts.

*Demonstrable awareness of the latest technologies and practices being used in land mobile communications, and the ability to determine their suitability for new designs.

*Proven understanding of EMC and RF specifications and the ability to apply this knowledge to designs while working to an agreed budget.

*Circa five years relevant work experience.

*Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

*Ability to work as part of a small team and individually.

*Leadership skills

Desirable

*2.2 (or better) degree in an engineering or related scientific discipline.

*Experience of working on low cost portable equipment
