Senior Cost Analyst; South East England; 2 years; £475/day

My client a well known Public Sector organisation is looking to recruit a Senior Cost Analyst for a long term contract. As a Senior Cost Analyst you will be involved in a wide variety of unique and interesting pieces of work supporting Head Office and will be working alongside the Cost & Force Structure Analysis Team. Elements of the role may range from directly liaising with customers to understand their problems whilst identifying how analysis can help them; leading analysis tasks in the team; overseeing the work of and mentoring less experienced staff and helping maintain and develop the cost model capability in the team.
Accountabilities:
*Provide timely, impartial, understandable and evidence-based analysis and advice to customers to enable them to make informed decisions.
*Overseeing the work of and mentoring to less experienced staff.
*Ensure that analytical outputs suit customer needs and communication preferences, and that findings of research/analysis are exploited by customers.
*Exploring unique visualisations to help customers easily interpret analytical outputs.
*Help to maintain and develop the cost model capability of the team. Production of formal technical reports and presentations.
Knowledge and Skills
*Drive and enthusiasm, completing tasks effectively within allocated time.
*Experience of problem solving.
*Ability to communicate in a clear and concise, customer-focussed manner both verbally and in written form.
*Knowledge and interest in Defence issues and the Armed Forces.
*Experience in using MS Office suite, in particular MS Excel and MS Access and general computer literacy.
Technical/Professional Experience
*Experience in carrying out complex statistical, econometric, analytical or mathematical research work.
*A good track record of maintaining and developing good relationships with customers, leading to supporting their most important decisions.
*Understanding of UK defence and security environments.
*Ideally qualified to Honours degree, or equivalent level of experience, in a numerical discipline
*Membership of relevant professional body is desirable (eg Operational Research Society, Society for Cost Analysis and Forecasting)
Security Clearance
*The candidate will need to be eligible for SC Level Security Clearance.
