The Safety Coordinator will administer safety initiatives across their client's organization through the delivery of standardized, results-driven safety and industrial hygiene programs and processes that safeguard the well being of employees in the work environment and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a wide range of standardized, results-driven safety and industrial hygiene programs and processes to safeguard the well being of employees in the work environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with leadership in implementing the safety strategy and building a corporate safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Consult with, advise and direct customers in all aspects of safety.
  • Manages safety within assigned areas using a safety management system approach.
  • Oversees performance of third party vendors, including regular performance review meetings.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through consultation and training of employees and leaders.
  • Meet with Company leadership, as necessary, to address safety issues.
  • Measure safety programs and activities for regulatory compliance.
  • Advise and assist business units with safety inspections, assessments, and accident investigations.
  • Develop and deliver safety related training.
  • Manage effective relationships with applicable bargaining units.
  • Maintain effective partnerships with business unit leaders and other Human Resource professionals.
  • Collaborate with others to control costs related to work accidents, injuries and ergonomic issues.
  • Identify and initiate actions to maintain regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, etc.) and adherence to company practices and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Manager Corporate Safety in implementing the safety strategy and building a corporate safety culture throughout the organization based on a shared vision, standardized programs, processes and measures.
  • Consult with, assist and advise customers on safety inspections, assessments and accident investigations.
  • Research emerging safety trends and continually update knowledge of safety processes, practices and regulations to ensure services reflect best-practice standards.
  • Administer standardized tracking systems for mandatory programs and processes.
  • Administer third party provider and vendor contracts.
  • Administer safety initiatives across the Organization through the delivery of standardized, results-driven safety and industrial hygiene programs and processes that safeguard the well being of employees in the work environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provides daily work direction to team members/co-workers while performing own job; may contribute to planning, work scheduling and minor decision-making regarding work methods. May provide feedback on team member/co-worker performance to immediate supervisor.
  • Uses appropriate interpersonal skill and communication methods to build constructive relationships with customers, business units and service organizations and other stakeholders to meet shared goals and objectives.
  • Analyzes ambiguous and rapidly changing data, people and things; identifies key issues and draws logical conclusions.

Takes personal responsibility for achieving results on time and within budget, as well as accepting responsibility for performance shortfalls without blaming others.
SKILLS:

Required:
  • Business Acumen - Knowledge of risk analysis and mitigation and vendor management
  • Human Resources - Basic understanding of HR laws and workers compensation. Functional expertise in safety.
  • Information Management - General understanding of system capabilities for information storage and management.
  • Project Management - Knowledge of project management principles
  • Operational/Technical - Significant knowledge of Federal, State, and Local safety standards and regulation.
  • Computer Technology - Knowledge in basic computer program capability, ie Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.
  • Energy Industry - Basic understanding of regulated and unregulated energy business
Education:
  • Degree: Bachelors Degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Discipline: Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Health, Human Resources or related field.
