Description

Windows Virtualisation Engineer is immediately sought for six month rolling contract based in Bradford.

Technical Environment: Windows, Unix, Linux, Citrix, SAN, Virtual Connect, HP & Dell Blades, Load Balancers

The role requires a good understanding of Windows Virtualisation Technologies with a proven track record of delivering solutions at an enterprise level.

The main objective of the role is to use in-depth technical knowledge to maintain the functionality, stability and availability all of all aspects of the Virtualised Server environment within the client estate

You will also be required to investigate any other Windows Server related incidents which are passed through to the team and ensure that SLA's are adhered to.

Maintain to day to day running of the clients virtualised environments.

Provisioning of new Virtual environments, the monitoring of existing virtual guests, hosts and resources.

Implementation of changes to the clients Virtualised environment, ensuring all change procedures are followed.

Testing/evaluation of new systems ensuring they meet the appropriate quality standards and can be maintained by the Windows Server Virtualisation Team.

Perform Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT)  on hardware/systems in preparation for acceptance in to support/BAU.

What is needed to be successful in this role: (Person Specification)

The role requires an excellent understanding of Windows Server Technologies with a proven track record of delivering solutions at an enterprise level.

The role demands a level of innovation to creatively apply solutions while ensuring that the system is supportable and sustainable.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong technical skills and the ability operate and maintain a VMware environment, preferably in a large, complex organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring that the team achieves SLA (Service Level Agreement) measures and other team targets, therefore good communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

A good working knowledge of network protocols, DNS, DHCP and Virtualised platforms is essential. Experience using monitoring tools is desirable to ensure systems perform at optimal levels.
A good understanding of HP hardware is desirable, as is a firm understanding of the underlying storage infrastructure.

The role may require the candidate to be available for 24 hour on-call duties as required.
