The role:
Our client is a smaller federal agency with highly specialised responsibilities across natural resource management and reporting. They are a highly sought after employer and attract high calibre technical staff across a range of specialisations.
They have a requirement for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to assist with the management of the database environment, specifically Oracle 10g and 11g.
The role will see you using your exceptional analytical and problem solving skills to keep thing running smoothly. You will be working with a wide range of technical and non- technical staff and will need very strong verbal communication skills and the ability to break down complex information into lay-mans terms.
This is an ideal contract to see you through the quieter Christmas/New Year's period in Canberra, with the successful candidates being offered a contract through to June .
Technical skills required:
- Administering and supporting Oracle databases (10g, 11g)
- Working with Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g and/or 12c
- Working with Solaris and/or Linux operating systems
- Using ITIL or similar processes for supporting database incidents, service requests, problems and change control
- Administering and supporting Oracle Forms and Reports
- Working with Oracle RAC and ASM on EXADATA machines
- Supporting Oracle databases for ESRI ArcGIS

- Effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with a range of internal stakeholders
- Able to work cohesively within a large team of diverse professionals
- Deadline orientated and able to effectively prioritise
You must be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this position - however no security clearance is required. Our client has a strong preference for candidates with experience working within a similar professional environment, specifically funded organisations or within the natural resource sector.
