Business Unit: Power Networks - TransmissionPosition:Principal / Senior Substation Engineer (HV)
Location: Newcastle,
Key Qualifications:Bachelors Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
Experience:
- Proven technical capability, to a high level, associated with the design, configuration and layout of substations and associated equipment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in substation HV plant application at transmission voltage levels up to 500kV, gained within a transmission utility, consultancy or manufacturing environment.
- An understanding of National Grid technical policy, its suite of technical specifications and supporting documentation is desirable..
- Broad knowledge of transmission technologies and a good understanding of how these technologies influence the operation and performance of the transmission system.
- Majority of the work will be office based however the capability to fulfil a role requiring site supervision of HV substation installation work would be an advantage.
- Proven ability of working with internal and external parties, eg. equipment suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, professional bodies, and working within a strong team-working culture.
- Proven ability of communicating complex technical or commercial issues to peers or senior managers.
- Proven ability to work in and lead cross functional teams.
- Proven ability to develop working relationships quickly and effectively.
- Proven experience in writing clear and concise documentation.
