Job Description

Working within the team of Computer Systems, you will be working on providing and improving the operating system(s), virtualization, system installation, patching, backing-up and networking.

Therefore you will be writing procedures on how to install and upgrade the systems. You will handle End-of-Life issues, assist the Architect in designing new features and directly pick up critical issues with our prototypes. You will be working on correct configuration of managed network equipment, network load balancing, quality of service of the network, implementation of boot-loaders, developing portability layers, providing functionality for resource monitoring.

As a Computer Systems Engineer you will regularly provide feedback to the Project/team Leader as well as the team of Software Engineers who will create the proposed changes.

It's crucial to have a constant communication to everyone on the progress and specification status to ensure no-one is surprised or disappointed. You work in close cooperation with the Project/team Leader ensuring that these projects are realized on time and on budget.

Main Responsibilities:

* Manages and documents operating systems.

* Assists the architect with operating systems related designs.

* Guides the software developers in the construction within the established architecture.

* Vendor selection for off-the-shelf software products.

Education

* BSc or MSc in computer science or equivalent experience.

Experience

* 3 years in development of technical software.

* Experience with PC OS, Cisco certification, Bladecentres, Ethercat and C

* Nice to have: Redhat Linux/CentOS 6.x, Windriver Linux, VxWorks, Python, Protocol knowledge and analysis, TCP/IP

* Good knowledge of English
