An application support role has arisen within a leading investment bank in London. This is a contract role that is looking to pay up to £550PD and will role on a 6 month basis. This is a senior role which means my clients would be looking for 4/5 year's relevant experience working in a busy trade floor environment in a client facing capacity

The main purpose of this role is provide day-to-day functional and technical support for Front Office Fixed Income applications and trading staff, to ensure the global production Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, seek opportunities to optimise, implement changes in accordance with agreed Change Management requirements, ensuring the well-being of the systems as a whole.

Essential skills for this role

* Market data and Connectivity
* Knowledge of database technologies (Sybase, MS-SQL)
* Scripting skills (Perl & shell)
* Excellent communication skills at all levels of IT and the Fixed Income business
* The ability to work in a pressurised environment
* An excellent level of customer service dealing with trading and sales staff
* The ability to work as either part of a team or alone when necessary
* A good knowledge of ITIL based service delivery
* A good knowledge of operating systems - UNIX, Windows,
* Knowledge ION Marketview an advantage but not essential

Key Requirements (Work Experience)

* Very good understanding of Fixed Income business within Credit and Rates
* Prior experience working with in-house Fixed Income & Currency developed systems
* Experience of knowledge sharing via Wiki, training sessions
* Adherence to Service Management principals
* Experience of dealing with complex problems and faults requiring analyses to find a resolution
* Consultation with customers for new or changed requirements, including cooperation in the preparation of technical concepts and in cost/benefit issues
* Assurance of the operation of applications while maintaining the SLAs and the internal and external regulatory requirements
* Maintenance of support documentation necessary for operation ( functional / technical)
* Backup and recovery management
* User support for functional and technical questions concerning the whole platform
* Cooperation in user acceptance tests
* Cooperation in monitoring andor purchasing software licenses
* Understanding of monitoring concepts (ITRS Geneos an advantage)
