With overall responsibility for the UK business unit (c60% of group revenue), the successful candidate will lead all accounting related activities whilst seeking to drive improved performance and enable more effective decision support.

Key objectives of the role are:

  • Manage the financial and tax position of the UK businesses
  • Drive an improvement in the efficiency of the Company's balance sheet through the review and management of working capital
  • Establish consistent and controlled finance processes in the UK ensuring there is evidence of controls undertaken
  • Support UK Division Heads during the business planning process
  • Provide financial support and timely financial data and reports to the business as requested

Responsibilities will include:

  • All UK accounting and preparation of monthly UK management accounts for each UK business unit in line with deadlines set
  • Management, development and appraisal of four staff and their processes- accounts payable, accounts receivable and assistant accountant
  • Production of month end reconciliation file and audit data
  • Production and review of UK cash flow forecast, and management of all UK bank account reconciliations. Day to day banking matters and review of balances
  • Management and review of share scheme, share accounting and trust balances (calculation of FRS 20 charge)
  • Input into business planning process and quarterly forecasting - providing cost analyses as requested
  • Lead the UK year-end audit process
  • Production of annual statutory accounts and notes
  • Preparation and review of UK VAT, National Statistics and payroll returns
  • Preparation of tax analyses for input into the corporate tax return
  • Management of the insurance renewal process
  • Dealing with and advising on UK property matters eg leases; rent reviews; dilapidations (support provided by other senior staff as required)
  • Providing timely information to the UK management and answering their questions on the data provided
  • Developing a good working relationship with senior staff in Corporate and in the Consulting business
  • Acquire a good understanding of our Agresso Business World management information system and assist with the development of new automated transaction flows

The role will report to the Deputy Head of Finance in the London office. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their practical experience in a flexible and progressive Company.

The successful candidate will be a qualified chartered accountant (most likely ACA or equivalent) with a strong academic track record. This role is suited to candidates with a genuine business partnering approach seeking to steer and influence decision making and tangibly add value to the bottom line of the business. Strong communication skills with the gravitas to secure buy in from stakeholders all levels is pre-requisite.
