Principal EC&I Engineers (Nuclear) - Warrington, NW.

EC&I engineers to work in both the Defence and Civil Nuclear sectors on both New Build and In-Service Support projects.

We require engineers from all disciplines of electrical, electronic, instrumentation and sensor/detector engineering to specify, design, develop, test and support control, instrumentation and protection systems and equipment to be fitted to civil nuclear reactors.

Responsibilities
- Detailed design of C&I system architecture throughout all phases of a project life cycle from requirements capture and management through to system validation.
- Design specification and integration of EC&I equipment and systems.
- Design substantiation of EC&I with respect to design standards, component quality and reliability.
- Liaison with suppliers (internal and external) to ensure equipment is supplied in accordance with project requirements.
- Undertake risk assessments in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Undertake fault analysis and reliability assessments using recognised techniques including FMEA, FTA, HAZID, HAZOP.
- Production of safety justifications of EC&I systems/components.

Qualifications
- Degree/HND qualified applicants with a bias towards electrical, electronic, instrumentation or control systems engineering.
- knowledge of high integrity industries in one or more of the following areas; safety C&I, conventional C&I, analogue and digital systems, PLC, DCS, HMI, SCADA and LV electrical systems.
- knowledge of working within nuclear, power generation or other high integrity industries.
- A comprehensive understanding of EC&I system design with knowledge of the design standards applicable to the nuclear industry would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of the justification of safety critical control and instrumentation in accordance with UK and international standards would also be an advantage.
- Good communication skills are essential as well as the ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work to standards, processes and procedures is mandatory.
- Membership of an engineering professional institute would be preferable.
