Senior Solution Architect/Technical Architect - Telecoms Datacentre High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)
Senior Solution/Technical Architect - Telecoms Datacentre High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) is required by a significant global enterprise to design, implement and test a failover Datacentre environment. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to implement a brand new DR solution for a major global player. The role will be based in Mumbai and will take 6 months to deliver and offers an extremely competitive daily rate, regular flights, accommodation and expenses.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 10+ years' experience in IT including operating in a lead architect/technical authority position
- Practical experience in the design and delivery of complex HA and DR solutions at the clustered, OS, SAN and Datacenter levels
- The ideal candidate must have a hands-on mentality and experience at the system level (HW, OS, DB, Applications).
- Good understanding of processes and functions of a Telecommunication company - the ideal candidate would have experience in the DR setup or migration of a Telco DC
- Deep technical understanding of state-of-the-art HA and DR technologies - UNIX, Windows, Virtualisation, Networking
- Production environment consists of 800 Linux (70%) and Windows HP Servers supporting mainly Oracle databases (some RAC) and applications such SAP (CRM, CI, CC), TIBCO and Ericsson network management technologies
- Experience in interfacing with designers, architects, infrastructure or application engineers - the role owner will be supported by a team that includes a system architect, project office and process consultants.
- Ability to drive technical resources, motivating them while also assisting them building understanding of the target solution
- The role requires the candidate to be a strong communicator used to operating with multi-national and multi-vendor teams who can clearly communicate concepts and technical detail to all levels.
About the role
The primary responsibility for the role is to define and install an enterprise-level DR platform by Q1 2015. The focus will be to provide continuous application availability from a user perspective. This includes the existing workflows, master data, interfaces, applications and infrastructure.
This includes the following activities:
- Coordinate the specification of the detailed solution to deliver DR at the following levels:
- DC - fail over within the rack (reduction of performance acceptable; no data loss; switch to and re-sync without downtime; cluster)
- Local - fail over to a nearby data center location (reduction of performance acceptable; no data loss; no downtime)
- National/International - fail over to a distant data center location for disaster recovery (800 km distance; no reduction of performance; RPO - max 10 min., RTO - max 6 hours)
- Coordinate the generation of the solution across multiple vendors (Hardware, OS, Database and Application) and functions (Network, Datacentre, etc.)
- Coordinate the activities to install and verify the disaster recovery environment
- Support the growth of the existing production environment by establishing a failover to a nearby datacenter.
