Job Description

Administration of website

The contractor shall take on the role of website administrator with corresponding rights and be responsible for content management, site building, site configuration and user management. In addition, a suitable means for routinely backing-up the contents should be ensured.

Corrective maintenance

The contractor will be responsible for any maintenance activity, which is required to correct any failures resulting in the incorrect functioning of the website, including its inaccessibility, re-setting the web server application as necessary.

Website content management

If necessary, format and upload documents, image files, graphics and video files.

Update to user manual and provide associated training

The contractor will be responsible for updating the user manual and provide training on the content management system if necessary.

Improvement of specific functionalities

Improvements to certain functionalities are envisaged. For example, the search function needs to be improved/fine-tuned in order to have the possibility to search within the documents (as far as the content is accessible), which might be uploaded in different formats (pdf, word, excel, Powerpoint, opendocument, multi-media files (eg. Flash, avi, jpg) etc.

Upgrading of the content management system

The current content management system is using Drupal version 6, which should be upgraded to 7 and when available to version 8. The contractor also should ensure and give guidance that the ENSREG site complies with the EU Cookie Directive

Accessibility and standards compliance

The new, to be developed, elements shall:

respect WAI - WCAG 2.0 recommendations for accessibility, including alternatives to rich application functions such as JavaScript;

be user-friendly and follow the most commonly used web standards;

have a clean look and feel, be self-explanatory and easy to understand;

ensure compatibility with the most widely used web browsers (eg Chrome 10 (or

higher), Firefox 3 (or higher), Internet Explorer 9 (or higher), Opera 12 (or higher), Safari 3 (or higher).

Adding specific functionality to the website

Specific functionalities like user-surveys, graphical interfaces and video contents should be added to the website, as requested.

Promoting website through search engines

Promotion of the website through search engines for example Google, Yahoo, etc. should be envisaged.

Mobile version of website

Website content should become accessible on mobile devices. The current map is developed using Adobe Flash and therefore not accessible on mobile devices. The contractor should develop a responsive design of the map and migrate the Flash map.
