DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
This position will be the Informix Development and Production Database Administrator (DBA) and an expert in Data Analysis and Integrity. The job will work across all development projects.
- Work with IT staff and users of existing and proposed systems
- Design and construct new databases focusing on data integrity/data integration across all divisions
- Maintain existing databases with focus on data integration across all divisions
- Perform database modelling using both logical and physical models
- Monitor disk space and performance of database systems
- Report and monitor all databases to maintain smooth operation
- Immediately respond to emergency situations ensuring speedy recovery of data and user connectivity
- Participate in team design, analysis, development, test and maintenance
- Test and learn new development technologies for the Department of State such as Oracle and SQL Server and share key learning points with fellow IT Professionals
- Evaluate new database software to ascertain best product and methodology for Department of State
- Provide staff authority for database development to the Department of State software
- Maintain balance between application performance, user efficiency and data integrity in the development and production environments
