The Role
The CAD Draughtsman prepares and maintains engineering and manufacturing drawings and other related documentation per ANSI standards completely and accurately considering methods of manufacture, tolerance, and their effect on related parts or assemblies.
The Candidate
CAD Draughtsman key skills:
- Very good ProE, preferably Creo 2, and AutoCAD 3D and 2D drafting
- Works to ANSI/ASME Y14 series or ISO drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Familiar with O-ring groove design and can select correct type and size of O-ring for a given application
- Familiar with drafting machined and cast components, specifying appropriate surface finish for a given application
- Can visualize and create complex mechanical assemblies
- Experience of drafting moulded components, ie elastomers and/or thermoplastic polymers is an advantage, but is not essential
- Ability to document written build and test procedures, working with relevant engineering and manufacturing peer
CAD Draughtsman Qualifications and experience:
- As a minimum, holds a 2-year recognised technical diploma and has served a recognised apprenticeship in a mechanical design environment
- 3+ years experience following completion of technical diploma and recognised apprenticeship
