Description
Brightcove is looking for a Software Engineer who will participate in the design, development, testing, and documentation of software systems for video streaming and playback. Candidates are expected to have development experience in object oriented and functional programming methodologies as well as experiencing working with relational or NoSQL databases.This position will work with teams based in Tempe, AZ.Responsibilities include:
- End to end production of server-side systems including design, development, test and maintenance
- Participation in Agile-based teams delivering new customer solutions, and updates to existing solutions on a regular basis
- Work with other engineers to help design and develop the next generation of video streaming systems
- 2+ years of experience in software development
- Experience in object oriented design and development using java or C#. Experience working with functional programming languages (especially scala) is a plus
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases. MySQL experience is preferred
- Experience with web services (SOAP, REST) and service oriented architecture
- Experience working with linux and have a good understanding of OS internals
- Familiarity with NoSQL data stores like Couchbase, Redis, Dynamo, MongoDB, Riak etc. are a plus
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and test driven development
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Willing to learn new tools and technologies
- Love of developing software and working in a fast paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other related discipline
