Software Engineer in Test (Code, Programming tools and Documentation)

An opportunity has arisen for someone who has at least two years' experience of software development or software testing to come on board a vibrant team and work as a Software Engineer for a Gaming company based in the United Kingdom.

The company itself was founded over twenty-five years ago and is considered to be at the forefront of developing tools for games. This company specialises in creating products for building, debugging and profiling games as well as producing tools that control development hardware. A global company with offices in Europe and North America has enabled them to ensure they are leading the way for research and development within the Gaming Industry.

This Software Engineer role requires you to provide an outstanding service that aids in the development process of debugging tools for all platforms that this Gaming Company produces. This would include early design and implementation all the way through to product release and product support.

The ideal candidate would have prior experience of working within the gaming industry although this is not essential. Furthermore, you would have a passion for software quality and be competent in providing a positive customer experience. If you have an aptitude for being influential or persuasive, resilient and good at working under pressure then this Software Engineer role could be suitable for you.

Responsibilities include:

*Analysing and quantifying customer requirements to produce maintainable designs.

*Co-ordinate team resources to ensure documentation is released with new versions of the tools.

*Participate in code and documentation reviews.

*Working closely with the engineering department to obtain source information and gain understanding of tools.

*Manufacturing your own schedule and working to deadlines.

*Provide estimates for tasks.

*Repeatedly work alongside support engineers on customer issues.

*Contribute to producing documentation by aiding technical writers.

Essential skills and qualifications:

*BSc in Computer Science or similar.

*A strong grasp of software testing techniques and methodology.

*Knowledge and a proven history of creating documentation for complex software products including:

oMicrosoft Windows as a software development environment.

oC/C++ development and debugging.

oObject-orientated programming and design.

oVersion control systems.

*Outstanding written and verbal skills.

*Diligence.

*Experience of working to deadlines.

Desirable skills:

*A minimum of 2 years practical experience of software development and/or testing.

*An understanding of Debuggers and Independent Development Environments (IDE's).

*Knowledge of C# and Microsoft Visual Studio.

*Experience with concurrency and parallelism

You must be eligible to work within the UK.

Start date: Ideally as soon as possible.
