Job responsibilitiesUsing your specialist knowledge, you will;
- conduct inspections and audits of companies involved in the manufacture and large scale storage and transportation of explosives and other energetic materials, offering advice on meeting statutory legal requirements, and initiating enforcement action where necessary
- assess these organisations as part of the licensing process and help approve explosives classifications
- assess safety reports required under major hazards legislation, and investigate incidents
- work with the explosives industry to develop guidance and advice on compliance with legislation applying to explosives
- provide advice on explosives safety matters to other government departments, local authorities and the police
You must have:
A Degree or relevant experience
In addition, applicants must have experience in any one of the following areas:
- manufacture, storage or handling of explosives
- storage, handling and processing of energetic or reactive materials
- application of process hazard identification and risk assessment and analysis techniques to explosives, energetic or reactive materials
- application of international schemes for the classification and transport of explosives
