I am currently seeking a number of contract Mechanical Design Engineers to work with my client based in the Huddersfield/North West England area.
Some key information regarding the position is as follows:
The Company
My client specialises in the provision of medium to large scale gearboxes and systems for the Defence, Industrial, Oil & Gas and Nuclear industries.
They are a well established company with a UK site that has been open for more than 100 years, with 3 other sites around the UK also.
Role & Responsibilities
Design new gearboxes, components and associated subsytems and test rigs
Modify or otherwise develop existing designs where needed for existing or new applications
Interpretation and comprehension of customer and other specification requirements
Contribute to the design review process and provide technical support to other business teams and functions as directed
Create cost effective and innovative design proposals, solutions and layouts to support the bid process
Skills Required:
Strong core design skills, competence in materials selection, gear rating, shaft and bearing analysis, other drive system elements including structural elements, couplings and lubrication systems
3D/2D CAD literate, Solid Edge preferred but not essential.
Practical knowledge of drawing and tolerancing standards & BOM generation
Develop modification schemes and/or re-engineering of existing designs for new applications
I am seeking candidates that are also able to create and modify designs and calculations for large equipment.
Ideally, you will also have experience in designing moving parts, rotational equipment (shafts, bearings, gears, automation machinery) or similar.
PLEASE NOTE
These positions will require you to undergo vetting for UK Security Clearance to SC level as these positions are for "UK Eyes Only" projects. I am therefore unable to accept any candidates that are not eligible for UK security clearance to SC level. Current clearance is not required.
