An NDT/NDE development engineer is required for a leading nuclear services organisation in the Gloucester area. My client is looking for someone who is certified to PCN Level 2 (or above) ultrasonic testing.

On a day to day basis the engineer will be carrying out the following tasks:

* Development of NDT/NDE inspection techniques to meet the end client's requirements and standards.
* Performing experimental work to exacting standards to prove the capability of techniques.
* Writing inspection procedures and instructions to the relevant standard.
* Assisting in first site application of inspection techniques.
* Liaising with the client to ensure that the required inspection technique and/or products comply with relevant standards and are in line with the customers' quality requirements.
* Ensuring the relevant quality control activities are properly planned and executed and appropriately recorded.
* Establishing and maintaining accurate records of tests and inspections.

Candidate requirements:

* PCN Level 2 (or above) certification in eddy current and ultrasonic testing (ASNT Level 2 or equivalent will also be considered)
* At least 5 years relevant industry experience in the nuclear and/or power generation industries. Candidates with experience in the oil and gas or aerospace industries will also be considered..
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including mechanical and electronic engineers, to develop complete NDT/NDE inspection systems.
* Willingness to work on clients' sites away from home, from time to time.
* Ability to work on own initiative and proactive approach is highly desirable.
* Flexible.

This role is open to people looking for either a contract or a permanent position. Possibilities for development to Level 3 role for the right person.
