System Administrator/IT Support

Summary:
With minimal supervision and general direction, the IT Support and System Administrator will serve as the primary contact for users of the Valent systems. maintain the operation of all application Servers. While performing all duties and responsibilities, the IT System Administrator will at all times, model values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following.

o Serve as the primary IT customer service contact for Valent users
o Receive and log requests for assistance
o Provide initial support where possible
o Where additional help is needed, ensure that request is assigned to the appropriate IT resource
o Work with users to ensure issues have been resolved
o Assist in maintaining the Global Shop System
o Apply upgrades and hot fixes as needed
o Assist end users with problems/issues
o Maintain all application Servers for the company
oThese Servers include, but are not limited to, software application Servers, Terminal Servers, & SharePoint Servers
o Ensure all assigned Servers are operational
o Apply patches to assigned Servers to keep them current and up to date
o Complete routine maintenance on assigned Application Servers
o Determine need for replacement or upgrade for assigned Servers
o Provide backup support for second tier technicians to assist in resolving problems related to the desktop and all related software running on the desktop
o Assist when needed to troubleshoot desktop hardware, operating system and software application problems
o Troubleshoot backup issues
o Oversee the server backup jobs to make sure that they complete successfully
o Assist with resolution of application issues within Valent systems. These could include:
issues with Global Shop & Pervasive SQL Databases, SharePoint, Postgres Database, and others
o Resolve daily issues such as file locks, software license administration, & applications reset/restart, and application level security
o Assist with other IT related issues and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

o Two-year Degree in Computer Science/IT/related field is required, one (1) year of experience in a technical IT role required or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
-Prior experience in a computer operations/administration role is preferred

Specific Job Skills:
o Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL query languages
o Basic understanding of general computing concepts
o General PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
o Familiarity with Application Development Lifecycle Management concepts/tools a plus
o Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
o Ability to adhere to a high level of confidentiality

o Must have excellent customer service skills, including
- Desire and ability to interview customers to understand the nature of their problem/request
- Empathetic attitude
- Persistence to pursue a request to final resolution

o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Ability to work in a dynamic environment with many different priorities
o Must be able to work in a team based participative environment
o Self-motivated

Physical Requirements:
The employee must be able to work in an office environment and utilize various office tools such as phones, computers, etc. The employee also must be able to move throughout an office and manufacturing area in order to talk/hear or otherwise communicate with customers, management, employees and suppliers. The employee must be able to work on the manufacturing floor as required to participate in process improvement projects, collect information, other projects and support user issues. Finally, the employee may occasionally stand and/or walk and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment:
The employee will normally work in an office and shop environment. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to moderate. Employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor.

Special Requirement:
The employee may be required to work extended hours, to meet deadlines or support issues. The employee may be asked to travel to other locations.
