Open Source Developer role in Cork, Ireland. This is a 6 month initial contract and rates are dependent on experience.

This role does require up to 50% travel so EU residents are preferred please only apply if you can travel!

You will be responsible for:

  • Technical responsibility for different open source projects to develop new functionality, improve current functionality, participate in testing, participate in technical discussion on mailing lists and IRC, etc
  • Represent the client in the wider open source community, at external conferences, open source community events, etc., giving presentations and participating in discussions
  • Host events for the open source projects you're working on
  • Promote open source best practices across different engineering groups (act as an advocate for open source internally)
  • Work to introduce new and innovative open source technologies
  • Contribute and provide technical expertise and consultation to internal projects
  • Keep abreast of developments with the Clients Software platforms-understanding their architecture and how to design and develop new features for them especially when the open source component you're working on is involved

Desired Experience:

  • Scientific or technical degree in Computer Science/Communication Engineering/Electronics Engineering/Systems/Engineering/Math
  • 5 completed projects (end to end)
  • Experience working with the GStreamer and open source community (OpenStacks, Cloud Foundry, Sparks, ODL etc.)
  • Experience coding in C, C++, on Linux, or the primary language of your project
  • Experience working with open source development tools
  • A good level of interpersonal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate ideas and implications to a wide range of people
  • A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work alone, managing your own work and setting sensible priorities
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply standard engineering and open source development practices
  • Travel up to 50%
