NUON/Vattenfall IT is the internal IT provider for the complete Vattenfall group, around 1.400 employees located in Germany, Poland, Netherlands and Sweden support the international Vattenfall business based on three organizational units: IT Demand, IT Supply and Group IT.

We are now looking for a Web & Application Server Administrator in the department Application Operations within IT supply that is responsible for the technical support of server based applications. The specific team focuses on complex web applications, J2EE portals, web content management systems, eBusiness portals and middleware integration platforms.

What will you do as Web & Application Server Administrator?

You are responsible for the technical design and operation of several services and their compliance according the agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Some of you main tasks in this position are:

  • Central contact for all technical issues and questions regarding the service and its components
  • Planning and design of the operational concept as basis for all software and hardware configurations under consideration of cost, stability and security aspects
  • Coordination and implementation of tasks supporting the service lifecycle (planning, installation, upgrade, decommission)
  • Coordination of incident recovery, planning and implementation of changes, evaluation of problems
  • Project management for smaller infrastructure related projects and support of international projects
  • 2nd Level Support
  • Participation in on-call shifts for high available services (max 9 duty cycles per year)

What do we require from a Web & Application Server Administrator?

  • Very good communication skills
  • Experience in the technical support of services
  • Very good practical experience (3-5 yrs.) in administration and configuration of webservers, server operating systems, application servers and platforms (e.g. Apache HTTPD, Virtual Hosting, SSL, Proxy/Reverse Proxy, IIS, Oracle Weblogic, Apache Tomcat, Redhat Linux)
  • Good working experience and knowledge (2-4yrs.) about ALSB/OSB and Middleware technologies is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge (3-5 yrs.) of web developing technologies and processes (J2EE, Java, PHP, Automation and Scripting knowledge is an advantage) from an administrative perspective. Knowing how to cooperate with development teams, also knowledge of Agile methodologies is an advantage.
  • Good basic knowledge (2-3 yrs.) in the area of distributed IT infrastructures (e.g., DNS, IP-Networks, Routing, Firewall, Load Balancer, Database, Active Directory)
  • Broad technical knowhow in the area of IT Infrastructure (Server, Storage, Network and IT Security)
  • ITIL- or project management knowhow are an advantage
  • Fluent English and Dutch, in talking and writing

We offer a challenging position in an international IT department distributed over Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Stockholm that includes travelling.
