Systems Engineer

Location: Costa Mesa, CA

Duration: 6 months+

Start: 2 weeks

Primary Skills:

4+ years of experience in a system engineer role (preferably in a financial setting)
Strong Windows experience; fundamentals + troubleshooting (Workstation OS (XP, Windows 7), Servers (2003, 2008), AD, domains, users, group policy) MCSE is a plus.
Familiarity with virtualization platforms (Citrix/VMware/Hyper V). VCP a plus Experience with working in an enterprise environment (SAN, Scripting, GPO) Strong IT background, strong networking fundamentals and troubleshooting skills are required Mechanical/Electronic ability to follow any manual instructions to replace any hardware components

Job Description:

The System Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and analysing technical products and systems; performing engineering design evaluation; recommending alterations of development and design to improve quality of systems and/or procedures.
Resolves software related problems and all technical issues involving Servers and systems.
Identifies and recommends emerging technology trends and develops alternatives with respect to hardware and software architecture; Conducts capacity planning studies of server hardware and software, analyzes data and develops hardware/software capacity requirements, alternatives and recommendations.
Evaluates, updates, maintains and applies patches for all Servers Works in conjunction with Systems Administrators to maintain security on all Servers; implements server requirements for new applications.
Trains employees in day-to-day operations and procedures Responsible for determining hardware compatibility and/or influencing hardware design.
Installs software and user utilities for modifications and upgrades of operating systems and Workstation environments.
Manages hardware maintenance and repair activities Installs, configures, and tests workstations with supporting hardware, software, and networking components.
Enforcing security for all audit concerns to meet SOX requirements Participate in project meetings to understand application and database requirements Provide after hours support as required
