On of my client is looking for a Technical Assurance Manager to work on a project that is a key element in the government funded upgrade to the Thameslink passenger rail network.

The successful candidate (PTS CERTIFIED) will ensure that two new depots are designed and built to the standards and quality required and thus can fully support the long term maintenance regime.

THE ROLE:

  • Work closely with all relevant parties (Train Manufacturer and Maintainer, Building Contractor, Operator etc.) to gain in depth understanding of the required performance specification required for the depots;
  • Ensure that the technical and operational specification for specialist depot equipment procured by my client will meet the requirements of the long term maintenance plan for the fleet and support the Interface Manager to manage the interfaces between this equipment and the depot design and construction;
  • Coordinate the review and approval/acceptance (as appropriate) of design, construction, test and commissioning plans submitted by the Building Contractor and the suppliers of specialist depot equipment
  • Ensure Building Contractor produces robust Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to allow key construction/installation, test and commissioning activities to be witnessed and reviewed by relevant parties;
  • Put in place relevant assurance processes and procedures for my client to effectively manage depot design and build projects including, but not limited, to design assurance, construction/installation, test and commissioning;
  • Bring a clear focus to design validation activities to provide assurance that the design will satisfy the contractual requirements both in terms of function and performance of the depots;
  • With support from the CDM Coordinator and the Project Manager (Design), develop and implement an audit regime which will give assurance that the Building Contractor and suppliers of specialist depot equipment are complying with their design management plans;
  • With support from the HSQE Engineer and the depot Project Managers and Construction Supervisors, develop and implement an audit regime for construction/installation, test and commissioning activities to ensure depots are being built to the agreed design;

ESSENTIAL:

  • PTS CERTIFIED!
  • Good degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience;
  • Analytical and enquiring mind, with the specific ability to challenge and draw issues to a satisfactory conclusion;
  • Proven experience at technical or engineering manager level, together with a proven track record in managing a variety engineering projects;
  • An in-depth knowledge of design and construction process, procedures and mandatory requirements;
  • Broad experience and knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines. Experience and knowledge of engineering process at all stages of the design and build life cycle;
  • Good communication and presentation skills both written and oral at all levels;
  • Good knowledge of IT skills.
