Description
SOS is seeking a talented, conscientious Front End/Wordpress Developer to join our technology team. We will expect you to transform designs and concepts into efficient and lively interactive user experiences. You’ll bring new creative perspectives and have an important say in final experience. You will work side by side with the Creative Director, IAs, and Visual Designers. They will look to you to provide creative input, advise on technical feasibility and ultimately code air-tight HTML/CSS/Javascript & customize and deploy a Wordpress back end. A collaborative attitude and an ability to actively coordinate and communicate with the project team are must haves.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate wireframes and creative concepts for technical feasibility and completeness
- Conceptualize and implement consumer-facing UIs
- Develop interfaces that are quick and responsive
- Build custom WordPress themes and back-end functionalities, and integrate third party plug-ins when applicable
- Create working prototype applications for usability testing
- Participate in QA cycles
- Update existing WordPress websites, through styling changes, creating new template(s), setting up new custom post types and taxonomies, new plugin installation and configuration, custom plugin development, etc
- Expert knowledge of modern HTML, hand written JavaScript, and CSS
- Expert knowledge of custom Wordpress development
- Experience with a JavaScript MVC framework such as Backbone, Canvas or ExtJS
- Working knowledge of application level programming such as PHP, ASP.NET, and/or JaveEE
- Ability to use the Adobe creative suite
- General understanding of version control
- A/B and multivariate testing experience
- Excellent time management skills and the capacity to handle multiple projects at once
- The patience to make things work in Internet Explorer
- A careful eye for design detail
- Great communication skills
- Willingness to work on site on as needed
- Experience specifying and configuring hosting environments
- IA/Wireframing experience
- Experience in backend development with PHP/MySQL
- Social web services and APIs (Facebook, Twitter, etc)
- Active in the developer community, you have a few github projects and a jquery plugin or two
