A rare opportunity has arisen for a Solutions Architect to join a renowned Retailer offering an exciting and fast-paced environment.

As a Solution Architect you will be directly reporting into the Development Manager and your role will involve solution architecture development, technical planning, high level systems project definition, identification of key non-functional requirements and constraints, high level cross-project design and technical liaison with other IS teams.

The Solution Architect key accountability's and responsibilities include:
  • Defining and maintaining the solution architecture for each project to enable successful project delivery including application, data, integration, infrastructure, operations and security architectures;
  • Working closely with both Business solutions and Programmes and Development teams to determine the most appropriate solutions for the company, taking into account cost, benefit, timescales and constraints of the environment in which the portfolio operates;
  • Reviewing third parties high level designs and implementations to ensure quality, coherence and consistency with solution architecture;
  • Working with the Enterprise Architect to ensure new / amended solutions align with the enterprise architecture, amending if needed to reflect input from the EA.
  • Defining capacity and performance planning and forecasting requirements;
  • Contributing the solution design aspects to key project management documentation such as PIDs and business requirements documentation etc.;
  • Defining the solution roadmap, and supporting scoping and technical planning including business case system cost models;
  • Leading selection of package and system components and usage within the architecture where relevant;
  • Defining system decommissioning targets across projects as appropriate;
  • Undertaking knowledge management activities: identifying, controlling and storing any pertinent information, and maintaining controlled knowledge items to ensure that they are current, relevant and valid.
  • Ensuring that all activities are performed at a consistently high standard with minimal risk to the business, and that opportunities to improve services and processes are identified and actioned.


Multichannel Retail experience is essential in this role so if you come from a retail background or consultancy working in retail this is an advantage.
