Description
SQL DBASQL Database Administrator is required for 3 months initially in Manchester for an NHS organisation. This is a very large organisation spread across numerous sites and you will be supporting multiple environments including the trusts clinical systems and SQL Server.
Scope of work
The trust is about to undergo a vast change in the IT strategy and currently they do not have a dedicated DBA to take sole responsibility of the servers administration.

Essential
- Previous experience as a SQL Database Administrator (DBA)
- Good commercial knowledge of MSSQL and T-SQL
- Good SSIS knowledge
- Disaster recovery
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and data dictionary definitions
Desirable
- Good working knowledge of NHS datasets such as SUS
What will you be doing
Installation/configuration/maintenance of SQL, SSIS and SSRS servers
- Monitor performance, database efficiency and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users
- Data provisioning/ETL tasks in line with data base standards
- Assist in database design and update existing data bases as required
- Job/ETL monitoring/support
- Troubleshoot and problem solve issues with data base performance
- Capacity planning
- Security/user access
