Main responsibilities
Translation of complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
Developing code.
Diving deep into open source technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Hbase, and Spark to fix bugs and performance bottlenecks.
Submitting patches and improvements to open source technologies.
Mentoring other developers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Strong preference for Computer Science.
6+ years overall development experience and 3+ years enterprise software experience.
The ability to lead a team of engineers to solve big problems with significant ambiguity.
Core competencies in Java, plus Hadoop (or other Map Reduce implementations)
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, enterprise systems, and asynchronous architectures.
Experience with large distributed services is a plus, as is building/operating highly available systems.
Experience leading the architecture of an open source messaging product is preferred.
