Description

Hi. We are just getting started on a client project to build an education web app for storing and delivering lesson content to teachers in the classroom. We are looking for a talented full-stack UI/UX designer to help us make the system beautiful and easy to use.

We have a basic prototype that the client has approved, and now it’s time to flesh out the full system and polish up the existing design. Our perfect fit would be an individual highly skilled in flat (like Google Material), responsive design, who can also code within the Bootstrap framework.

You’ll hopefully be able to show us some examples of strong interaction and visual design skills (Dribbble quality). We look for polished aesthetics, an ability to work within an existing design language, and a mastery of basic design concepts like layout, grids, hierarchy, typography, interaction, and color.

So if you love thinking through user flows, designing things like dashboards and analytics, and building for responsive and retina, then you’d probably have a lot of fun with this. Since we’re early in the project, we’re still working out details, but there’s still room to jump in right away. We’d like to find someone who can work through the end of the year (with potential to go into Jan/Feb) and can start as soon as tomorrow. I’m Gary (Portland based), and I’ll be your guide on this tour. I look forward to working with you!

Who we are:
• A very small creative agency working in Portland and NYC
• A totally distributed (North America based) team. . . we all work from home offices
• Super quality driven, beautiful code = beautiful products
• Very easy going, no drama types (clients make us crazy sometimes, though)
• Extremely flexible on schedule and processes – we trust until we’re given a reason not to

What we’re looking for:
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills – you’ll be in constant communication with me, the creative director
• Comfort with an iterative design process that includes accepting and managing feedback
• Strong CSS/HTML skills – you will (hopefully) be able to code your designs
• Strong understanding of mobile & responsive design
• A Twitter Bootstrap guru
• Comfortable working in a hourly scenario with time tracking (full-time)

It would be helpful to have:
• Knowledge of JavaScript
• Experience working with Ruby on Rails
• Experience with GitHub and Pivotal Tracker
• Experience with CSS and HTML frameworks like Sass and Haml
