I am looking to hire for a Category Lead/Manager role in Liverpool with my Government Client:

Experience Required

  • Category Leads (CLs) will play a critical role in supporting and inputting to category strategy.
  • CLs will take a lead role in the implementation of sub-category strategy.
  • CLs will be recognised as senior practitioners in their particular field with a significant level of experience required to build alignment across Government and the wider public sector.
  • He/she will possess and maintain a personal network of suppliers, internal customers and other category experts across the public and private sector.
  • Strong personal working relationships with senior internal customers will be crucial to the effectiveness of the role.
  • CLs are expected to draw on their own experience and think laterally and innovate.
  • CLs may be either individual contributors or have some supervisory responsibility within a sub-category.
  • As senior members, Category Leads are expected to demonstrate pro-activity, flexibility and a collaborative attitude enable delivery of an excellent end-to-end procurement service for customers.

Key Tasks and Deliverables

  • Lead creation and execution of designated category and sub-category strategies. (Sub-categories could include, but is not limited to, Learning & Development, occupational health and employee assistance, employee rewards and benefits programmes, permanent recruitment services and translation, interpretation and transcription services.
  • The CL's role may be required to manage, and/or support any of these sub-categories as requested by Senior Management.
  • Make a significant contribution to the continuous improvement of the category team's performance to customers (service, savings and spend).
  • Build relationships of influence with senior customers. Leverage relationships to build support for and drive compliance to category strategy and SRM.
  • Responsible for all commercial and contractual agreements within area of responsibility.
  • Liaise with Business Partner leads, Crown Representatives, Complex Transaction leads.
  • Sets targets for Contract Management (in conjunction with Commercial Contract Management function)
  • Own and drive Supplier Relationship Management within specific category area.
  • Manage and coordinate initiatives to develop the category at a sub-category level, developing, coaching and guiding team members.
  • Act as a source of expert market knowledge, insight and advice to customers.
  • Contribute to the development of category-specific IP and best practice.
  • Accountable for the category spend and savings performance.
  • Support Category colleagues as requested by Senior Category Lead.
  • Responsible for supplier and contract performance.
