Contract Role: 3 Months Minimum

Location: Northwest

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Lead/ Process Engineer within the Refinery or Petrochemicals industry.

The Senior/Lead Process Engineer will supervise a team of Process Engineers to address all discipline specific requirements within projects. He/she will capable of undertaking discrete specialist studies/technology reviews with or without Supervisors, providing necessary input and support to project progress and reporting.

The Senior/Lead Process Engineer would ideally have experience and proven track record as single discipline `expert` with responsibility for managing quality, delivery and adherence to the design processes and procedures within the Process discipline. The Engineer provides technical direction for the Process department in collaboration with the Process Engineering Manager/Director. The Engineer undertakes design delivery role from a technical perspective working across a multi-disciplined design team and is responsible for influencing and delivering the design within their own discipline with frequent liaison/management of engineers within the design team from other disciplines.

Duties:
- Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications together with checking and approving the design of other engineers within the team.
- Lead optioneering studies, and, design and safety reviews (risk assessments/ HAZOP`s) from technical standpoint within the discipline
- Close liaison with and influencing the client and project team for the preparation and delivery of technical documentation throughout the design process.
- Ensure quality and delivery of design documentation throughout the design process including scope of works, method statements, risk assessments, technical files and technical documentation to comply with design standards, safety legislation/regulatory requirements and the needs of the client
- Presentation of design documentation and active member of design and technical committees, design review meetings and being a key part of the decision making process.
- Allocation of work to other members of team in order to ensure delivery of design to quality, time and budget

Key roles:
  • Undertakes specified tasks/areas of work dependant on size and complexity of projects
  • Capable of leading a team of up to 15 Process Engineers
  • Capable of supervising and checking the work of other Engineers
  • Responsible for communicating technical/project issues which potentially impact the project to the Project Manager or Project Engineering Manager.
  • Preparing specifications and philosophies
  • Preparing H&MB, PFD, PUFD and P&ID
  • Preparing process data sheets
  • Close out HAZOP actions


Experience required:
  • Refinery design and operating experience preferable
  • Experience in refinery processes and technologies is preferred
  • Track record working as a Lead Process Engineer is required
  • National and international project experience
  • Experience with preparing and leading process projects including Feasibility Studies, Basic Engineering Design Packages (BEDP), Front End Engineering Design (FEED) Packages, and Detailed Design for process plants and refineries
  • Competent in running ASPEN/HYSIS, PROII, Flarenet
  • Competent to review and check works carried out by other Engineers
  • Refinery and chemical processes debottle necking and troubleshooting
  • Capable of performing general duties with no direct supervision and within agreed schedules and budgets


Qualifications:
  • Bsc (Hons)/MEng Chemical Engineering
  • CEng and MIChemE - preferable

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and verbally.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Decisive
