Description

Electronically create and update new and revised Parts Information to be delivered to dealers, customers, and others in print, CD-Rom, or via the Service Information System. Provides direction to the Illustrators.

DUTIES:
  • Entry-level development/training assignment in Parts Information Development area; responsible for accuracy & completeness of assigned parts information elements & completing assigned work by established deadlines; expected to achieve accuracy & completeness
  • Follows guidelines to prepare & compile parts information by working pending Engineering Change Notices (ECN) & creating/revising parts information elements; receives instructions & incoming work from Project Leaders; reviews ECNs & drawings, existing parts information elements, other parts record data, & decides how serviceable parts will be displayed in various parts identification media; determines whether parts are eliminated or relocated from illustrations; chooses to use a new illustration or revise an existing illustration & whether supplemental views of parts are necessary; revises 2D graphics, creates & maintains caption data, & updates File Management System w/change history data.
  • Identifies discrepancies or incompleteness of incoming data & seeks assistance from Project Leaders if needed. From these same sources, receives advice regarding complex parts information elements, such as types of illustrations to use (orthographic, etc.).
  • Expected to use a complement of parts authoring software tools in completing tasks
SKILLS:

This position requires knowledge of Customer's product structure and organization of Customer's parts information; extensive knowledge of engineering databases; the ability to read and understand engineering documents and blueprints; and graphics visualization skills. Personal computer skills and familiarity with various software packages is required. Associates degree in automotive tech, engineering or related mechanical technologies required. Position is in frequent contact with people outside the work group to give or obtain information. It is important for incumbents to express themselves clearly.
