Role Purpose:
* Software Delivery (SwD) for Commercial Banking (CMB) Channels: providing architectural leadership in the support of our corporate internet channels, host to host and mobile business systems.
* Reporting functionally to the CMB SwD Head of Channels Architecture, the Lead Solution Architect opportunity is a business-facing architecture advisory, thought leadership and delivery role specialising in the shaping the technology vision in support of our business objectives.
* In an advisory capacity it involves working with all parts IT, Change Delivery and Business leaders to develop technology architecture strategies; communicate complex technology situations and their solutions and assess challenging technology problems providing advice and direction to resolve the issues.
* In a thought leadership role it is to provide a point of view on new technologies and how they may be applied in pragmatic ways to deliver commercially sound and innovative ways of addressing new and existing business challenges.
* Most importantly in a delivery capacity, it is to be able to architect, design and estimate complex Commercial Banking solutions. The role requires individuals with a passion for the detail, an understanding of governance, deep experience in system integration, and a capability to frame and deliver a compelling argument.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
* Demonstrable architecture experience, specifically within both Channels and Mobile, ideally within the financial services industry
* Proven track record in pragmatic architectural/technical design in financial business systems as well as solid software development experience
* Deep understanding of Web Technologies and Service and Integration solutions
* Track record of delivery under diversified/matrix team structure
* Sound appreciation of the full software development life cycle, including release management
* Strong understanding of commercial (or investment) banking products and system solutions
* Strong analytical, design and problem solving skills
* Excellent understanding of System Development Life Cycles (SDLC) - either Waterfall or Agile
* Ability in working under pressure
* Able to work flexible hours and willingness to travel
* Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation with good command of written and spoken English
