We are looking for a Researcher to support the clients research and development activities in Linked Data technology, including the development of new applications. Their outputs are prototype products and services, technical strategies, standards, and patents.

The successful candidate will work in a group that is currently researching and exploring business opportunities for Linked Data, which supports the building of a Linked Data platform. In their role, the candidate will explore the application of Web and Linked Data technologies particularly in the area of healthcare and sensor networks.

The principal responsibilities of the role will be to:
- Implement in code from proof of concept through to near production quality prototypes that realize these ideas and exploitations
- Develop new ideas combining an understanding of systems, businesses and human processes in the context of their engineering characteristics
- Architect solutions that implement these ideas in the real world. Exploit the ideas in patents and publications
- Socialize the ideas inside and outside the company

Ideally, candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Extensive software engineering experience: JVM Languages (Scala, Java, JRuby, Groovy,..)
- Knowledge of web application technologies - Webby data systems (REST, Linked data)
- Experience with deploying Analytics in a distributed data processing systems (e.g: Hadoop, Akka, Storm)
- Experience with Semantic Web and Linked Data is highly desirable
- Knowledge of Healthcare IT
- Able to express ideas in proof of concept and production quality code
- Adaptable, willing to learn new fields and develop new skill sets
- Excellent communication skills, report writing and presentation skills
- PhD in a relevant field would be desirable
