My client a leading multinational company is looking for a Software Engineer to join their team on an initial 5 month contact with extension options. This is a mixed skill role. Priority is for Java, C++ and Scripting skills. Skills and experience using automated testing tools would also be an advantage. Also required are solid OS skills - Windows and all Uinux flavours - for maintaining the production build environment.
Project Area Description
You will join a team working on enterprise security components. You will help to maintain components written in Java and C++. In addition you will be responsible for maintaining the team production build environments and automated build system written in Shell script. You will be part of a software development team that uses the Agile methodology.Clear, effective communication with stakeholders in product development and product management teams is crucial.
Duties/Task Description - the deliverables/results the contractor will be expected to achieve:
- Maintain and develop software components
- Share knowledge with other team members, including software development engineers, software quality engineers and information developers
- Provide input to the planning process for Agile iterations and milestones
Mandatory skills - the absolute minimum skill level required for the candidate to be considered:
- Development in Java, and a good understanding of Shell programming. C++ is highly desirable.
- Test planning and executing skills
- Knowledge of enterprise networks
- Ability to set up automated build and testing harnesses
- Strong communication skills
Preferred skills - the ideal skills you would like the candidate to have:
- Agile development methodology
- Security technologies and architecture
