Description

A multi-disciplinary engineering services contractor, involved in a large number of international projects, is looking for 2 Substation Commissioning Engineers to start on a contract role for an initial 6 months. These commissioning engineers will be focussing on 3 different 132 kV substations across the North West UK, working 10 hours per day Monday to Friday. One engineer will start in January 2015, and the other will start in February 2015.

This opportunity will be excellent for individuals who are looking for longevity and the chance to work with multiple projects across the UK & Ireland.

Task and Responsibilities:

Testing and pre-commissioning
Complete commissioning activities of substations
Carry out high voltage switching and isolations
Implement and action the high voltage safety rules
Perform switching operations on AIS switchgears inside TP s
Perform switching operations on substation
Check and possibly prepare high voltage switching schedules
HV cabling, termination and testing
Supply and installation of new control, SCS ad protection cabinets including all associated cabling and terminations
Inspect, test and commission high voltage plant and apparatus
Replacement/Decommissioning/Installation of electrical equipment in close proximity to live equipment
Complete ad-hoc non electrical related tasks (TP inspections, generator refuelling, foundation cleaning etc.)
Stay informed of the HSE & S system
Stay informed of the QA system and the procedures
Report non QA conformities & complete remedial actions
Prepare, issue and cancel safety documents
Witness documenting in reports and checklist
Fault management
Snag lists
Weekly/Monthly reporting on Progress and Issues
Liaise with Engineering and Quality Departments

Experience:

Electrical Engineer
Substation Commissioning experience in relation to power industries
High voltage experience - 132kV minimum
Scottish Power Authorisation: WI1, WL, SR2 and AME
First Aid
CSCS safety card
