Description
This vacancy is for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a growing team of 10+ electrical and mechanical engineers based in East Grinstead office, providing technical support to a wide range of disciplines within the company.Principal areas of work are the provision of technical advice relating to the design, operation and maintenance of M&E systems associated with road, rail and cable tunnels and water/wastewater infrastructure. Other activities include the design of low voltage distribution systems, building services, energy management and control systems, for a diverse range of high profile projects.
- Experience of working closely with clients and contractors in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- A broad understanding of electrical engineering within a site context, a willingness to learn from others and proactive in finding solutions that add value to our projects.
- Knowledge of general PFD/P&ID as well as control philosophy and FDS production would be considered favourable.
- Familiarity with the Dialux and/or Amtech software packages is desirable as would be the ability to use AutoCAD or REVIT.
To lead and co-ordinate electrical engineering consultancy and design activities in projects of various sizes, generally involving assistance with the development and review of technical proposals for electrical systems associated with:
- Road, rail and cable tunnels
- Potable and waste water plants/pumping stations
- Development of green- and brownfield sites
Various other unusual transport-related projects
The client is looking for an Outward looking, keen individual with a professional persona, able to communicate effectively with the whole construction team and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Proficient in discussing technical issues in non-technical language with good presentation and report writing skills.
- Commercially and financially aware.
- Ability to recognise new business opportunities, both externally and internally across other departments.
Requirements:(Essential)
Electrical engineering degree, UK BSc or equivalent (e.g. HNC).
Chartered Engineer for at least 5 years.
At least 10 years relevant experience in either transport infrastructure or water engineering.
Experience in the design of normal and emergency power supplies, LV & HV switchgear and distribution systems, lighting, supplies Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in mentoring and managing less experienced engineers.
Able to write and compile specifications and technical reports from scratch, to a high standard of presentation.
