Compensation & Benefits Manager - £ p/d Ltd - 12 months - London - Government

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitoring salary structure and benefits at all times; Developing competitive and benefit packages; Ensuring all packages and benefits are legal; Negotiating with unions; Maintaining and developing personnel record systems; Build relationships with relevant external service providers (eg food, transport etc.); Preparing and distributing information to employees.
Harmonisation of Terms and Condition's- Project Lead the Treasury Solicitors Department (TSol) is undergoing a significant period of change as a result of merging departmental legal teams (under TUPE principles) into a single legal organisation as part of a 'Shared Legal Service' Programme, doubling the size of the department in an 18 month period. TSol now comprises approx. 2000 staff of which approx. 1,500 are lawyers in multiple locations both in London and other locations in England.

Employees who transferred into TSol from 6 (DCLG, MoJ, HO, DWP, HMRC employment, DfT) different organisations have preserved terms and conditions of employment, including some from previous organisations. In accordance with parameters discussed and agreed with HM Treasury, the post holder will be required to review these sets of terms and conditions and make recommendations on the harmonisation of policies and terms and conditions. This will also include pay structures.

Main duties & responsibilities: -
Checking and documenting what the existing employment contracts cover - Working out the costs and possible benefits of harmonisation and considering whether any of the costs can be offset by changes in working practices - Identifying longer-term requirements to introduce one (possibly new) set of pay structures and terms and conditions in the new organisation, and make proposal to the TSol Board for how this could be achieved (Inc. consideration of equal pay issues) - Consulting and negotiating with the Trade Unions on changing the employee's terms of employment - Consulting employees about changes to their terms and conditions - Set a realistic timescale for the introduction of harmonisation and producing and delivering action/project plans - Initiating necessary training for staff/managers - Assisting and producing communications; materials; presentations
