The candidate will work in the Operator Environment & Interface division, responsible for configuring visibility systems that enhance the user experience and productivity. The candidate will design and develop visibility related components or systems such as cab windows, mirrors, visors/shades, and wiper systems, working closely with other system owners to optimize integration. The candidate will also develop and maintain internal design guides, technical specifications and other development documents. The candidate is expected to provide technical leadership for visibility systems, working with customers and process partners. The incumbent will be responsible for leading multiple projects simultaneously, meeting all quality, cost, and timing deliverables. The candidate must demonstrate strong customer focus, team work, global collaboration and communication capabilities. This position will also require the application of new technologies and products, as well as, new manufacturing and assembly processes.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conceive and provide practical product design applications using complex technical principles.
  • Create concepts and direct the design and development of complex engineering projects.
  • Prepare concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of complex engineering projects.
  • Prepare development plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled dates.
  • Act as the development team leader by interacting with plant locations and General Offices departments.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of major systems on competitive products.
  • Coordinate product test with proven design and prototype build up and test area.
  • Provide guidance to other engineers responsible for portions of the product project to ensure development schedules are met.
  • Evaluate, define, and resolve design and manufacturing problems.
  • Potential travel to foreign and domestic plants, dealerships, and customer job sites to solve design problems or to field-test locations to evaluate a product improvement.
  • Use technical expertise and product knowledge to play the leadership role in the problem resolution process when interfacing with Test and Evaluation, Service, Plant personnel, suppliers and consultants.
  • Work with a multitude of component suppliers, leveraging supply base and leading efforts.
SKILLS:

Required Qualifications:
  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, and 4-7 years in progressive design engineering assignments to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts.
  • Must have a good mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts.
  • Requires strong leadership ability, initiative, and good communications skills.
  • High level of proficiency in Pro/E or other modelling tools.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Ergonomics experience or training.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience in automotive or construction equipment.
  • VisView and/or related visualization tool experience.
  • Experience in working with suppliers and end customers.
