The role:
A challenging opportunity is available for an experienced GIS specialist to ensure the technical proficiency of teams in their use of GIS applications.
The role will see you working within a highly professional team and collaborating closely with a range of experts to deliver training and technical support.
This role as it will see you receiving input from a variety of sources and so a flexible and client-focussed attitude will be essential.
Initially a 3 month contract will be offered, however there is the opportunity for the role to become permanent following satisfactory performance.
Duties:
- Demonstrate GIS software to other employees and share your system technical expertise
- Provide technical support of spatial applications and data systems, particularly ArcGIS for Desktop, including troubleshooting.
- Assist in supporting the management of enterprise spatial application systems, including ArcGIS for Desktop, FME Workbench and QGIS to ensure they meet the agency's requirements.
- Provide high-level technical advice and instruction regarding geospatial data management practices.
Essential technical and personal skills:
- Strong experience with GIS, with exposure to its application in several different environments
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts in plain English
- Happy to share knowledge and increase understanding of GIS concepts organisation wide
- Strong client focus and able to meet service expectations in a timely manner
Australian citizenship is required to be considered for this role, however our client does not require a security clearance.
